Cast Iron Skillet GIVEAWAY and Healthier Chocolate Zucchini Brownies with Yogurt

We have two fun updates for you today: the result of our brownie do-over and a giveaway sponsored by CSN stores, a group of online stores that carry anything from beautiful mailboxes to useful cookware.

As you know, we love baking sweet treats at home but have also been striving to make healthier choices   As we had mentioned last week, we were going to recreate our Chocolate Zucchini Brownies (that already seemed healthy with hidden vegetables within it) with yogurt substituting as oil.

What we did was follow the exact recipe but substituted the 1/2 cup of oil for 1/2 cup of fat-free French vanilla yogurt.  The result?  The brownies were less fudge-like and more cake-like in texture.  The brownie rose higher and it tasted less decadent, but still delicious (like an un-iced chocolate cake).  And since it's low fat, it almost guilt-free, right?
Now, onto the GIVEAWAY!  With the cold weather here in NYC, we oftentimes stay warm inside and, like our readers, cook up a storm.  So we were excited when the promotions team at CSN stores contacted us to give away a product from their over 200+ online stores.

They sell everything from mailboxes to wine racks so we had some fun searching the sites for the perfect giveaway.
We decided to GIVE AWAY the Emerilware Cast Iron 12" Skillet to one lucky reader.  Cast iron is great because it evenly cooks your food, seasons over time, and is incredibly durable.  This skillet is made by All Clad and measures 3" H x 12" W x 12" D.

To enter the contest, please leave a comment for at least one of the following (for a maximum of 7 comments or entries per person):

1. Comment on what you would do with the skillet.
2. Become a Follower (click on the Google Friend Connect button at left).
3. Tweet about this Giveaway (include @highlowfooddnk in the tweet).
4. Follow us on Twitter.
5. Subscribe to us via email (enter your email address in the box at top-left).
6. Blog about this giveaway (Leave a link to your post in your comment below).
7. Place this giveaway on your sidebar (Leave a link to your post in your comment below).

If you already follow us with Google Friend Connect,  on Twitter, or subscribe to us via email, please leave a separate comment saying so.

Leaving a separate comment for each action/entry makes it easier for us to count so each comment will count as one entry.  The contest will end by Feb 28 with the winner announced on Mar 1 and chosen by Random.org.  As the website only ships to Canada and the U.S., only residents of those countries are eligible for the prize.

Two years ago I was coming home through Vancouver-flight delays-two days to get home from Ottawa-and there were 4 older people going somewhere warm-they were loading up on the Tim Hortons to take on the plane. I love it that the lines are longer for TH than Starbucks. I lived in TO about 18 years ago-I did my articles there.
