Franny's: Tasty Pizza in Brooklyn

If you ever wanted to know from which farms your pizza ingredients originated, Franny's is the place for you!  It's a great local eco-friendly restaurant in Brooklyn that features some of the best pizzas in NYC - after all, they use ingredients that are grass-fed, pastured, and/or organic.

House-made Meyer Lemon Soda and Black Pepper Soda ($4 each): Though Franny's features a small, but good beer (including Sixpoint and Victory on tap) and wine selection, we opted for their house-made sodas.

Using fresh ingredients made both of these drinks bright and perfect to pair with the rich and salty pizzas.  The Meyer Lemon soda was like a bubbly subtly sweet lemonade while the Black Pepper soda with orange was surprisingly refreshing. We will definitely make similar versions of these drinks at home.
Tomato, mozzarella, and meatballs pizza ($17): We couldn't pass up Franny's meatballs on their famous pizza. The crust had a nice char and was not overly doughy. The pizza is the crisp, flat Neapolitan style pie and one that does not flop in the middle.  The meatballs are even made with real meat - local grass-fed beef, veal from small Vermont Fancy Meats farms, and pastured pork (pork shoulder, we think).
Buffalo mozzarella, ricotta, garlic, oregano, hot peppers ($16):  Have you ever had a potato chip or French fry craving that did not get satisfied until you ate the whole bag?  That was how we felt after we ate our first bite of this pizza.  The addictive savory pie with fresh cheese and sweet and spicy peppers was a sublime match -- it makes us want to pickle our own peppers at home.
Actual real oregano on our white pizza!
Though our pizzas cost us $40 (after tax and tip), they made for a very flavorful meal.  We would definitely return.

Franny's is located at 295 Flatbush Ave. in Brooklyn, NY.
